In a season many predicted would be a dreary Silver Arrows slaughter, there have been many exciting twists and turns.

Not least by the team who caused the concerns in the first place. Lewis Hamilton’s remarkable second half storm up the standings has left him in pole position, an amazing accomplishment after such a terrible start.

Hamilton's incredible run of form looked like it might have screeched to a halt when a grid penalty forced him to start last at the Belgium GrandPrix. But the Brit had a stunning drive and ended up with a podium finish, much to the dismay of bemused teammate, Nico Rosberg.

There’s also been the outstanding first season of Max Verstappen, the 18-year-old Red Bull rookie. Without a doubt, the best debut season since Hamilton took up the reins at McLaren.

Verstappen has ruffled a few feathers along the way, though. Notably those of the ever enigmatic Kimi Raikkonen, who is driving a much improved Ferrari this year.

Not improved enough, however, and despite having the 4-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel, as the number one driver, Ferrari still trails behind both Mercedes and the increasingly impressive Ricciardo at Red Bull.
